THREE DAY EMOTIONAL EDUCATION RETREAT:
HEALING OURSELVES AND HEALING OUR WORLD

Psychiatrist, author and curator, Dr. Albert Levis and his children, Max Levis PhD, and Melissa Levis MFA, welcome you to a fascinating weekend of intellectual discovery and personal insight. Levis pioneers Moral Science, a new framework to integrate science, psychology, emotions, religion, mythology and art. Discover your unique Conflict Resolution Process and learn how to transform your unconscious patterns into more effective relationships. This workshop is for the general public, intellectually curious and people who love growth.

INTRODUCTION TO THE UNCONSCIOUS:
UNDERSTANDING OUR UNIVERSAL PATTERN

Challenging psychoanalytic and neurobiological conceptions of the brain, Levis presents a new model for understanding behavior as an exact science.  In contrast to the Freudian unconscious that is based on a drive for sex and aggression and made up of the fragmented id, ego and superego, Moral Science holds that the unconscious transforms conflict to resolution along an interrelated rollercoaster of six emotions and actions .  This "Conflict Resolution Process" abides by the laws of math and physics thereby making psychology into a science.

MUSEUM OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS SCULPTURE COLLECTION: RETRACING THE HISTORY OF LOVE

Wilburton Inn Campus

In this guided walk through the collection, Dr. Levis explores the struggle between the genders and the evolution of religions as discoveries of alternative ways of resolving conflict. The art explores the shifting power dynamics in family relations and introduces more inclusive and abstract definitions of the divine. Beginning with the cruel Matriarchal Mother Earth Goddess of Mexico, to the seductive "fight or flight" Helen of Troy, from Kali who dances on Shiva and inspires asceticism to the powerful dragons of China and delicate Geishas of Japan, from the seductive Ishtar of Gilgamesh that inspired temptress Eve, to the monotheistic religions of the Bible, that inspired  the father-son and mother-child alliance but caused inequity between husband and wife,  the Museum explores how different cultures deal with conflict, developing contrasting moral systems and social norms.  Religions are seen as partial and complimentary discoveries of science. The key to global and personal happiness are the moral values  of cooperation, moderation and mutual respect.

THE GORSKI RETROSPECTIVE: IDENTIFYING THE PATTERN

Moral Science Project, 3814 Main Street, across from the Taconic Hotel. Manchester Village

This session introduces participants to the work of Henry Gorski, one of North America’s pre-eminent figurative expressionists. The Museum houses over 100 of Gorski’s canvases from the duration of his career. These paintings are organized as cycles of conflict resolution, tracing how the painter used art to transform his emotional reality. The canvases illustrate the unconscious Creative Process which goes from stress, response, anxiety, defense, reversal to compromise. Each cycle shows a new phase of growth and insight leading from conflict to resolution.

RETRACE DR. LEVIS'S CONFLICT RESOLUTION PROCESS THROUGH SCULPTURES.

Village Sculpture Park, behind the Moral Science Project, 3814 Main Street, Manchester Village

Dr.  Levis uses sculpture to recreate the drama of his own life, from his childhood as a Jew in hiding in Athens, Greece during World War II, to a thinking skier who came to Vermont in the 70s  to a wise man sitting at with the counsel of world religions, trying to heal the world in his old age. This outdoor exhibit uses traditional art and found objects to give permission to the viewer that they can create their own six-role life story celebrating their conflict resolution process too.

CREATIVITY FOR SELF-DISCOVERY: HEALING OURSELVES

Moral Science Project 3814 Main Street, across from the Taconic Hotel.

A hands on workshop with art exercises (no art skills required) for people to discover their unique own Conflict Resolution Process. Based on two Creativity for Self Discovery tests that were developed over 40 years in his career as a Yale trained psychiatrist, this is an easy opportunity for people to discover their personality type and how to enhance their happiness and effectiveness. Participants are invited to share their insights with the group and act out their creativity to gain even more insights.

MORAL MONOPOLY: THE GAME

Wilburton Inn

Over dinner, guests retrace historic and mythic sagas from Mexico, Ancient Greece, India and Mesopotamia. Learn how morality evolved from these four global cultures to discover the universal values of cooperation, moderation, and mutual respect.  This non-competitive game offers a spring board to discuss the conflicting absolute truths of orthodoxy and find the commonality among them through the Conflict Resolution Process. Religions are seen as en evolution from Matriarchy to Patriarchy, Asceticism to Monotheism. It is up to science to finish the work of religions  to bring peace to the world.

POLITICAL RELEVANCE: HEALING THE WORLD

Wilburton Campus, 257 Wilburton Drive, Manchester VT

This session challenges participants to apply the insights they have gathered to the contemporary political landscape. We will address questions such as how do we deal with Trump, how can we build consensus, and how do we defeat terrorism? How do we apply the weekend's take aways into our work and family for increased wisdom and happiness.
